Helping to advance a flexible, resilient, secure and cost efficient electric grid through industry-government partnerships.
U.S. federal policy and objectives have shifted in 2025 under the new administration. With the overarching goal of reducing the government spending, the administration is taking a close look at all programs and departments, including those involved in energy and the grid. Grid Forward and our community want to ensure that the core capabilities of those federal agencies that support grid modernization can continue. A strong, robust grid remains a critical pathway to economic vitality, community resilience and meeting national interests.
Since our founding, Grid Forward has rallied the many stakeholders in our industry to work together to advance grid modernization. We see an urgent need to work together to ensure the continued role that federal agencies play in advancing a grid that can provide diverse, resilient, secure and affordable power to all our industries and citizens.
Grid Forward has prepared two 4-page documents that help explain the role of the grid in serving all segments of society, and the urgent need for investment to modernize it for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.
This document captures examples of real-world grid modernization projects across the country that have improved resiliency, response to weather events, operations, affordability, and other factors. It calls for continuing specific programs that are critical to grid functionality.
This document explains the peril of underinvestment in the grid, with examples that show the danger to meeting rising demand, flexibility for diverse generation, resiliency to weather events, increasing energy burdens, and cyber and physical threats. It underscores that investing in the grid is necessary for ensuring our national priorities and well-being.
Grid Forward and our partners are planning a number of proactive actions to impress upon the federal leadership the importance of investing in an advanced grid. We are looking for a robust coalition of our industry leaders to join us in engaging with federal policymakers.
Please add your name and information below to join with Grid Forward in our engagement efforts targeted at priorities to advance the grid. The time to act is now.
